Dead Theologians (and politicians)

With the beginning of beautiful weather and the trees and flowers blooming everywhere, we decided to take a walk the other day and ended up at the graveyard!!! Nice, eh? Well, it is the cemetery for Nassau Presbyterian Church and has some pretty notable people buried here. I took some pictures of some dead theologians and politicians.

These two photos are of the grave of Jonathan Edwards, who was the third president of Princeton College when he died.

Grave of Sarah Edwards, wife of Jonathan Edwards (below, the sun somewhat covers her name).

Here lies John Witherspoon, Revolutionary patriot and signer of the Declaration of Independence.

This is Aaron Burr, the third vice-president of the U.S. under Thomas Jefferson. He is the grandson of Jonathan Edwards and is more widely known for killing Alexander Hamilton, the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, in a duel.

This is the grave of B. B. Warfield, lying next to his wife.

Below is the grave of U.S. President Grover Cleveland. If you look closely in the picture you can see the graves of Warfield and his wife just in the background to the right.

Charles Hodge, third professor at Princeton Theological Seminary.

A. A. Alexander, first professor of Princeton Theological Seminary.
